The start of the 2015 college football season is only 100 days away, so here are 10 games involving ACC teams (listed in chronological order) we’re counting down the days to as well.
Louisville vs. Auburn, Sept. 5 (Georgia Dome)
Auburn could be the SEC’s best team in 2015, and what a statement it would be for the ACC to have a rebuilding Louisville team -- 10 players were drafted earlier this month -- knock off the potential SEC West champion.
Ohio State at Virginia Tech, Sept. 7
The Buckeyes should be the preseason No. 1, but they walk into a tough road environment in Blacksburg. Could the Hokies upset Ohio State two years in a row?
Clemson at Louisville, Sept. 17
The ACC Atlantic Division could come down to a Thursday night in September. With Florida State looking vulnerable, will the Tigers or Cardinals step up to win the division? The winner of this game sits in great early position.
Florida State at Boston College, Sept. 18
FSU coach Jimbo Fisher doesn’t need to be reminded what happened when USC rolled into BC last September. The Eagles will be tough under coach Steve Addazio, and this will be FSU transfer Everett Golson’s first real test.
Georgia Tech at Notre Dame, Sept. 19
The Yellow Jackets might not be on the national radar, but they certainly are a playoff contender. Beat Notre Dame, which is most certainly a contender, and Georgia Tech will grab the spotlight.
Nebraska at Miami, Sept. 19
The Cornhuskers embarrassed the Hurricanes’ defense in Lincoln last season. If Miami is going to convince anyone it has elevated its program, it will start with a win against Nebraska.
NC State at Virginia Tech, Oct. 9
It isn’t a Thursday night in Blacksburg, but Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium should have a wild atmosphere for this Friday night game. The Wolfpack and Hokies are two sleepers in the ACC. This is a huge game for NC State coach Dave Doeren and Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer.
Florida State at Georgia Tech, Oct. 24
The Seminoles have a tough October stretch, and this will likely be their toughest game. Georgia Tech could be the conference’s best team in 2015 and narrowly lost to FSU in the 2014 ACC championship game. This game will have major ACC and playoff implications.
Florida State at Clemson, Nov. 7
The Tigers would like to forget what happened the last time Florida State came to Death Valley, which fell dead silent by halftime. This is the game that has decided the Atlantic the last few seasons, and this November showdown could once again decide the division.
Boston College vs. Notre Dame, Nov. 21 (Fenway Park)
An underrated rivalry, this series will be renewed in historic Fenway Park. That should create one of the best scenes of the 2015 season. It will be 22 years almost to the day (Nov. 20, 1993) that the Eagles ended the Fighting Irish’s national title hopes.
