Louisville's Tom Jurich featured on bottle

Tom Jurich has achieved many things as Louisville's athletic director, most recently getting the Cardinals into the ACC.

On Tuesday, he accomplished something else: Jurich is featured on a commemorative bottle of Maker's Mark.

The bottles, featuring Jurich and the ACC logo, go on sale this week and benefit fundraising efforts for a new academic center at Louisville.

Jurich has been Louisville's athletic director since 1997. In his time, the Cardinals have changed conferences four times and moved to the ACC on July 1.

Jurich joins Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino and former Louisville football coach Charlie Strong, as well as Kentucky football and basketball coaches Mark Stoops and John Calipari, as prominent faces on Maker's Mark bottles.

"Maker's Mark is an icon in Kentucky," Jurich saiud. "The support we have had from the Samuels family through the years has been terrific. Their partnership has been extraordinary for the academic center, which could be the most important facility we have built on this campus. It means so much to us to have a company with the prestige and tradition of Maker's Mark to partner with us for a center that will mean so much to all of our student-athletes."

Maker's Mark produced 8,500 bottles featuring Jurich and the ACC logo. Over the past three years, sales of commemorative Maker's Mark bottles have generated $2.5 million for Louisville's Academic Center of Excellence.

"We selected Tom Jurich to be featured on the final bottle in the series because he has truly brought the entire athletic department to a new level of achievement," said Rob Samuels, Maker's Mark chief operating officer. "U of L athletics play a huge role not only in the lives of student-athletes but also in shaping our entire community, and clearly Tom's leadership has been nothing short of remarkable."
