(SEC) thoughts on Jacoby Brissett

NC State on Thursday announced the transfer of former Florida quarterback Jacoby Brissett, a 6-foot-4, 229-pound backup for the Gators who will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season. Brissett played in 13 games and started three over the past two seasons at Florida.

How good is Brissett?

Well, I haven't seen him play enough, so I knocked on the door of the SEC blog to see what those guys had to say. Florida defensive back Matt Elam, who went to high school with Brissett, gave his take via Twitter:

ElamVsElo2: For all the "supposedly" Florida fans I am a @JBrissett12 fan, I can careless what that other dude can do, I'm for the fam!

ElamVsElo2: If you a recruit and you play receiver, go to NC State..! Lol..!

ElamVsElo2: Ay world mark my worlds please! The NC STATE WOLFPACK WILL HAVE A HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS iSWEA..!

High praise from the Gator.

According to SEC blogger Edward Aschoff, Florida coach Will Muschamp praised Brissett for being a team player and handling the quarterback situation with maturity. In the locker room, Brissett had a reputation as a leader.

Aschoff's take: "Brissett was probably the better pure passer, but he's very slow with his decisions, running and throwing motion. He's a much better fit for a pro offense."
