Making the case for Manning: Look at his stats. What didn’t he do? Manning made plays all over the field and was integral in NC State winning five of its last seven games. During the last five games of the regular season, Manning averaged nine tackles per game, had 11 total tackles for loss, five sacks, caused two fumbles and recovered three and intercepted two passes. In the win over No. 7 Clemson, Manning recovered two fumbles deep in Tigers territory that led to scores. And he injured his knee in the third game of the season and surgery kept him out two more.
