Let the debates begin. Again.

Heading into the 2011 season, we counted down the 25 best players in the ACC ... or, at least gave it a shot as to how they might stack up based on past performances and future potential. Well, now that the season has played out, let's do it again, and this time try to get it right. Remember, this list isn't based on who will be drafted first, nor does it have anything to do with 2012. It's simply who was the best of the best in the ACC in 2011.

No. 25. Brandon Jenkins, DE, Florida State

2011 stats: He was second in the ACC with eight sacks for a loss of 62 yards, and had 12 tackles for a loss of 79 yards. He finished with 41 tackles, one pass breakup and five quarterback hurries.

Previous ranking: No. 4

Making the case for Jenkins: He was the team defensive MVP of the nation’s No. 4-ranked defense, and he was still disruptive despite facing double teams throughout the entire season. Coach Jimbo Fisher said he was so effective against Wake Forest that the Deacs had to slide protection over to him, opening the door for a big day by Bjoern Werner. While his overall numbers were somewhat of a disappointment compared to the expectations he entered the season with, Jenkins’ contributions to one of the nation’s best defenses can’t be ignored.
