Denny Hamlin is taking a stand against NASCAR over what he perceives to be an unfair fine. NASCAR penalized Hamlin $25,000 for so-called "disparaging remarks" the driver made about the new Gen-6 race car. Hamlin said it "did not race as good" as the old Gen-5 -- mild criticism on its face, but evidently enough for NASCAR to levy a fine.
- coreysalvadras23: "This is truly sad. Hamlin didnt say anything horrible about the gen6 he simply answered a question HONESTLY! So NASCAR do you expect the drivers to just lie or not give interviews at all?"
- rufo23: "Passing and action is what made NASCAR, what they have going on now is garbage."
- PhilWeilert: "He deserved to get fined but he did make a good point. It is a lot of single file racing but I agree that when teams start figuring out the car better the racing will pick up."
- Cam Newtons Suggestion Box: "There are always people who don't like change. Hamlin is going to have to figure out how to deal with it if he wants his career to continue."
- Bart68118: "NASCAR is wrong on this one: As previously stated: To me it sounded like he was just saying the Gen6 cars aren't ready yet just like when they first started racing the gen5 cars. Like anything new it takes time to adjust. Pretty innocent statement."
- Webster2020: "He's not only saying what most race fans believe, but more than likely what the other drivers believe. Heck, the announcers, analysts and such believe the same thing. They said it prior to the race. It's gonna be single file and track position is everything. Who wants to watch that? Outsiders think NASCAR is single file, left turn only racing. Well NASCAR is proving them right."
