Chip Kelly says he's focused on the Fiesta Bowl, but rumors about his potential future in the NFL have been swirling around ever since Black Monday's full tally became known. Teams could do a lot worse than the Oregon head coach, whose rapid spread offense has made the Ducks perennial contenders and is influencing the game on the pro level as well. If all goes well, Kelly could have his pick of the most attractive jobs in the NFL once this season is in the books.
- kweaver613: "Biggest risk/reward hiring. Either going to make or break a GM."
- maphil0615: "As a Browns fan , I don't want him. His spread offense would never work in the NFL. Nothing against him, he's a great coach on the college level."
- robertzm: "If you are a successful HC at a major football university making big $$$, you would be foolish to leave the nice college lifestyle with a huge recruiting advantage to go to the NFL where you have a draft, a cap system, player agents, GM's, owners and many other obstacles. I would rather be a God for life making slightly less vs. a sleep deprived zombie who gets fired after 2 or 3 years making slightly more money."
- Hooper1054: "I think what would be very effective in the NFL is not the spread option part of Kelly's offense but the pace he runs it. Lots of teams run spreads but the fast pace he runs is really what causes defensive problems."
- Ilovebluecrayon: "I think Chip Kelly offense could work for the browns if they got a threat at WR and a QB like Geno. They are a young team overall and could hold up to the fast pace. Another fit for him would be Carolina are Washington but the skins will stick with mike for awhile."
- Mike12536: "Success is going to come down to flexibility in schemes. If Kelly tries to run a 100% Oregon offense in the NFL, he'll fail; not because it doesn't work, but because in his first season or two as an NFL coach he wouldn't have the personnel to run it. "

Kelly's future?
Kelly has a good thing going at Oregon, but the allure of the NFL, with its higher profile and pay, must have some appeal to him.
Would his success translate?
Kelly's offense at Oregon has been studied by current NFL head coaches, but what works in the college game doesn't always work in the pros.
