Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has overturned the suspensions of four players involved in the Saints' bounty scandal. Jonathan Vilma, Scott Fujita, Will Smith, and Anthony Hargrove are all free to play. Did Tagliabue make the right decision?
More: Who is mostly to blame for the scandal? What should Jonathan Vilma do?
- mike_williams7: "Goodell's pride just took a big hit."
- jadakiss88: "The funniest thing is that none of the fans get what they want! Saints fans and Bounty Contenders never get a definitive answer on the entire issue and the season is gone. Saint haters and Bounty supporters spent an entire season defending Goodell all for nothing."
- pdfresh: "In all seriousness, Tag did a good job here. Both sides got to save face and the situation is resolved."
- twknight: "Kind of the 'glass is half empty and half full' scenario and pretty much what I expected. Doesn't completely exonerate the players involved, and doesn't really say Goodell over stepped his authority. I think the biggest thing, is it really puts the onus on the Saints organization for their involvement in covering things up and making it more difficult to find out the truth."
- chester1805: "vacated but the whole organization and players did participate in a pool program detrimental to the game. Huh? "
- vonsteve6868: "This isn't about guilty vs. not guilty. Clearly the players had a bounty program. That's not even in question. This is about whether Goodell's punishment was correct. His good buddy says no."
