Another thing, Doc Rivers or Gregg Popvich to replace Coach K? Nope don't do that. Need to go with another college coach, and the guy to go with is Bill Self. PLEASE do not go with John Calipari, I mean for once go with somebody that people will like. Nobody liked Coach K, and nobody I know likes John Calipari either. But I have yet to meet a person that says they hate Bill Self. He's a genienue person, and he is very trustworthy. Not to mention the guy is an amazing coach. He may not be as accomplished as Coach K is, but he's definitely getting there. At some point in the season, Self will win his 500th game because KU averages around 30 wins per year. Jerry Coangelo seriously needs to consider him, and I guarantee you if he gets the job, he's going to do a damn good job. Coaching NBA athletes, I guarantee TEAM USA's defense is going to be damn good, because he is a defensive mastermind. As far as offense goes, I think the high low offense will work too. It's going to take some work but the NBA athletes he is coaching will get it. TEAM USA's last two gold medal teams have had alot of speed, and I expect the next one to have one too, and that will lead to transition points. But he will praise defense to these guys till they are blue in the face. Overall, it will be interesting to see who the next TEAM USA coach but can't go wrong with Self.

As a KU fan, I've always hated Duke basketball, but when it comes to TEAM USA that stuff goes right out the window. Coach K has done an amazing job coaching the United States basketball team, he really has. Before he got here, TEAM USA was getting embarrassed. The talent sucked too but when Coach K got here, all that $@%! changed. 61-1 is an amazing record, and he's won two gold medals, not to mention four natl. championships. I hate the guy but he's absouletely one of the most accomplished coaches in the history of sports. Definitely a first ballot hall of famer. Another thing to the people who got something negative to say about TEAM USA, and Coach K, and how they almost did this, and they almost did that, SHUT THE HELL UP! It's better to give up alot of points and win rather than give up alot of points, and lose. Another thing, people need to start giving countries like Spain more credit. That team is a hell of a team led by the Gasol Brothers, Ibaka, and Jaun Navarro, and company.

I don't think many college coaches can do what Coach K did. His coaching style reminds me of Phil Jackson's. He scouts opponents, comes up with a strategy and lets his players execute them. These guys (with the exception of Davis) are NBA stars who are knowledgeable about the game. They're not talented college players who don't know much about the nuances of the game. Micromanagers like Larry Brown will just lead to disaster again. And let's face it, many college coaches are micromanagers. You don't need a coach to call plays every time down the court with an Olympic group.

See a couple comments that the team didn't win by enough points, Coach K doesn't know defense etc.........a win is a win and a gold medal is a gold medal. As they say in golf, "There are no pictures on the scorecard!!"

Head Coach - Gregg Popavich, Doc Rivers Assitstants - Tom Tibideau, Vinny Del Negro, Scott Brooks, Avery Johnson, Doug Collins if they go college coach route Tom Izzo Bill Self John Thompson lll Thad Matta Frank Haith pesonally i think college coaches bring a more team oriented & technical style to the table that benefit USAB Coach K left some pretty big shoes to fill.

I wouldn't be surprised if USA basketball chose John Calipari as coach. He's shown that he's adaptable to different line-ups. I think Pop would be a good choice but he's too busy being coach/GM of the Spurs.

For the variety of venues in which he's won, for the increased competition within the game of basketball, for the huge changes in the game that he's had to negotiate over the course of his coaching lifetime, Coach K is the best college coach of all time. The Wizard of Westwood never faced this level of competition, an NCAA tournament with as many challenges or working with anything other than pliable college athletes.
