COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier had his contract bonus enhanced in provisions approved Friday by the university's board of trustees.

Spurrier's old agreement included bonuses for winning nine, 10, 11 and 12 games. However, he could collect only the one he reached. The new deal allows Spurrier's bonuses to add up as the Gamecocks add victories. Spurrier's team won a program-record 11 games last year

Spurrier's contract expires after the 2015 season.

South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley got a $50,000 raise for reaching the NCAA tournament's round of 16.

Staley's base salary rose from $250,000 to $300,000, making her total contract about $725,000 a year through 2016. Staley also had her buyout cut in half from $400,000 to $200,000 should she leave the Gamecocks.
