It's ridiculous how some schools that have really good in athletics and produce a lot of money are getting screwed in conference realignment. Schools are getting a free pass to a premiere conference all because of the size of their TV market. I have nothing personal against Mizzou, but what exactly have they ever won? Also I'm pretty sure Pitt has only won 3 Big East conference championships, in all sports, in the past couple years. All while there are teams that joined the Big East in 2005 that have already quadrupled the amount of Big East championships that Pitt and some other former Big East teams have. College sports is a joke. Nothing but greed.

it's funny how pitt and syracuse fans were always like "the big east is the best conference" and now that they're leaving, it changed to "the big east sucks. we can't wait to get out".

Because duke has done so well in football by being in the acc? How will being in the acc magically make cuse or Pitt better...

Why are these schools that have a long history with the big east trying to leave?? Makes no sense.. How much money is enough money? These schools are getting so big, and really for what? There no jobs waiting for those kids anyway. Unless the university is a trade school its pretty much a waste of money.

In what way will this make them a better team or give them any more credibility? Other than Duke and UNC, the ACC SUCKS!!!! The Big East is the overall better conference

From a basketball perspective you are correct. Football wise, Pitt should be able to improve its program in the ACC. When Pitt entered the BE they were known as a football school, wanting to improve its basketball. Twenty years later, the opposite is true.

The move to the ACC was beneficial for Miami, VT and Boston College.

Pitt and Cuse are both garbage. Pitt football has never even won an outright Big East title in all 21 seasons in the league and hasn't won a national championship in 36 years and they're supposed to bring something to the table in the ACC? Their basketball team has only been to one Final Four in school history and that was during the Great Depression. They have only 3 Elite Eight appearances, all 30 years apart. ACC fans are happy with this? Meanwhile, Syracuse has only one winning season in football in the past 10 years (2010), and hasn't won a national title in that sport in 50+ years. They've been one of, if not THE worst team in the league for a while now. Their basketball program has only one ncaa tournament championship and even that was 10 seasons ago. They've only gotten past the Sweet 16 TWO times in the past 16 years (only 3 times in the past 23 years). That is flat out embarrassing and ACC fans are happy with this too? The only thing the ACC is getting with these two teams is tradition. Both basketball programs are allergic to winning in March and their football teams could not be less relevant.

And they did such a great job courting Boston College years back too. Is there a school that has fallen off the map in both football and basketball faster than BC in the past decade? Bottom line is, wouldn't it make sense to at least dominate your league before taking off for an arguably more competetive one? Sure, there may be more money in it for Cuse and Pitt, but if their two main sports become irrelevant in the next ten years, is it really worth it? AND I don't drive a limo anymore. I happen to own a pet store. It's called "I got worms", we specialze in..... well, worms.

If you are the last team out of the Big East, do you get to keep all the exit fees? Seems to me the basketball schools are shrewdly lining their coffers....they aint gonna leave but football schools will. Maybe they ain't so dumb after all.

This is a big move for the basketball program; however, there football program will suffer for the rest of eternity.

Pitt will get better in football after moving to the ACC, just like FSU, BC, and Miami. (Sarcasm intended.)

Mike Gottfried once said if the local talent in Pitt. Pa. high schools would stay with Pitt. they could contend every year for championships. Why has Pitt. never made a move to the BIG -10 ? I remember when Pitt. and Penn. State was a major rival.

And now the table is set for Clemson and FSU to make the step up to the Big 12. The ACC can now fulfill it's content quota for its ESPN TV contract. Thankfully the won't be getting the full share the Power Four conferences will recieve. Now all parties can move ahead and hopefully with CU and FSU gone the dust can settle on expansion for a while. The Power Four conferences are now in control and thankfully the ACC, BE, and other have nots are in the rearview mirrors. Hooray!!!

I hope you're holding your breathe on that move to the Big 12. The ACC is not losing anyone, it does not make sense for either to leave and and incur the cost of leaving and take anywhere up to 10 years to recoup that cost. Also if you can't dominate the ACC what makes you think you're have better luck against UT and OU? IF the "Brands" in the ACC would live up to their hype the ACC would get the respect AND the pay-offs which is what everyone is crying about. If you'll wondering about "Brands", see FSU, Clemson, []_[], and to some extent GT and VT just needs to do better in the bowl games.

Money is not the only reason to jump to the Big XII. Fear of the ACC champion being shut out of the playoffs is also a major reason that FSU and CU might change conferences. Stability is tricky as well as there are stability issues for both the Big XII and the ACC. For the Big XII, there is always the fear that UT might go independent or that UT and OU might jump to the PAC-12. However, UT and OU decided last year to forgo the PAC move and stay in the Big XII. The 13 grant of rights increases stability for the medium term as well. As for the ACC, the FSU and CU to the Big XII are not the only realignment rumors. VT and NC State have been mentioned as possible expansion targets for the SEC should they expand to 16 schools. UVA, BC, Maryland, and GT have all been mentioned as possible B1G expansion targets, though that rumor is less likely. Miami is also facing potentially severe NCAA sanctions, possibly even the death penalty for football. Adding Pitt and Syracuse added two football non-factors that are a long way from Florida and South Carolina. In short, the ACC is moving away from the south and away from football. Not a good combo for FSU or CU fans.
