Marsh and Colvin spin out South Africa

England 185 (Greenway 61*, Rainsford-Brent 45, van der Westhuizen 4-30) beat South Africa 108 (Marsh 4-19, Colvin 3-20) by 77
Scorecard

England secured their series against South Africa Women with a 77-run victory at Shenley despite an unconvincing batting display where they were bowled out for 185. The spin of Holly Colvin and Laura Marsh proved too much as they shared seven wickets to dismiss the visitors for 108.

England were grateful to an unbeaten 61 from Lydia Greenway after they'd slipped to 91 for 5. Greenway's innings helped to double the score and she added 37 for eighth wicket with Colvin. Charlize van der Westhuizen claimed four wickets with her left-arm spin, a prelude of what was to come from England.

Katherine Brunt and Jenny Gunn did the early damage to South Africa's run chase, but it was the spinners that really made life tough. The batsmen struggled to score as Colvin took three in the middle order before Marsh, on her return to the team, went through the tail and finished with career-best figures.
