Menaria, Manan star in seven-wicket win

India Under-19 169 for 3 (Meenaria 63*, Harpreet 38*) beat Australia Under-19 167 (Garrett 29, Sharma 3-24) by seven wickets
Scorecard

A composed fifty from captain Ashok Menaria coupled with a disciplined bowling performance ensured India Under-19 got off to a winning start in the Australia Youth ODI Series. Left-arm spinner Manan Sharma was India U-19's most-successful bowler with 3 for 24 as Australia U-19 were restricted to a below-par 167 batting first at the Bellerive Oval.

Apart from the 41-run opening stand between Nic Maddinson and Tom Beaton, there were no other fruitful partnerships as the India U-19 bowlers struck at regular intervals. Krishna Das, Jaydev Unadkat and Kundan Singh gave Sharma able support, picking up two wickets apiece as Australia U-19 were bowled out in 48 overs.

The India U-19 batsmen played cautiously in reply, with openers Mukul Dagar and Avi Barot taking India to 48 in the 13th over. Left-arm seamer Jackson Coleman removed both in quick succession but Meenaria and Harpreet Singh added 79 for the fourth wicket to take India home in the 45th over.
